Better Bilingual

Our vision: An education system where cultural diversity and multilingualism are celebrated and every pupil is valued.

Our mission: Empower school leaders and educators, deliver high-quality training, develop equitable policies, strengthen home-school links and nurture support pathways locally. By being a champion for cultural diversity and multilingualism in education, we encourage every pupil to flourish.

Our purpose: To encourage pupils to use all their languages and enable teachers to inspire them. To enable all pupils to be seen for who they truly are, respected for their individuality and empowered to achieve their full potential.

Over the past year, we have reached over 1000 multilingual learners, including refugee pupils. We have trained school leaders and teachers in over 70 schools to improve inclusive quality first teaching in diverse classrooms. Our impact includes systemic, long-term improvements through the training of Multilingualism Champions to promote DEIB.

Better Bilingual is a social enterprise based in Bristol and working predominantly across the Southwest. Founded by Catherine Brennan, Director, the team is made up of experienced trainers, teachers and educationalists, ably supported by a dedicated board and enthusiastic volunteers.

Shortlisted for The Batook Pandya Award for Inclusion at the Bristol Social Impact Awards 2024 (organised by VOSCUR)
